Las Vegas is unlike any other city in America. Most travelers underestimate how much there is to do outside the city. Red Rock Canyon is 30 minutes from the Strip and offers world-class hiking, rock climbing, and a 13-mile scenic drive. Hoover Dam and Lake Mead are 45 minutes away. Valley of Fire State Park, with its Mars-like sandstone formations, is an easy day trip. The Grand Canyon West Rim is reachable in about two hours.

Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) sits just 5 minutes from the south end of the Strip, making it one of the most convenient major airports in the country. Hundreds of nonstop flights connect Vegas to virtually every US city. Spring and fall offer ideal temperatures; summer regularly exceeds 110 degrees while winter nights can be surprisingly cold.
