About SWISS International Air Lines
SWISS International Air Lines (IATA code: LX) is the flag carrier of Switzerland, formed in 2002 from the remains of Swissair. It has been part of the Lufthansa Group since 2005 and operates its main hub at Zurich, with a secondary base at Geneva.
SWISS serves North America from New York JFK and Newark, Boston, Chicago, Miami, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Washington. Zurich is a small, efficient hub by European standards — connections are quick and the airport is consistently well rated, which makes it a low-risk transfer point compared with Frankfurt or Heathrow.
As a Star Alliance member within the Lufthansa Group, SWISS connects to United and Air Canada across the Atlantic. Our agents frequently route travelers through Zurich rather than Frankfurt when the connection time is tight, because the risk of a misconnect is materially lower.

Light fares exclude checked baggage and carry tighter change rules. Adding a bag afterwards often costs more than the fare gap — we run that comparison before you book.
