About Allegiant Air

Allegiant Air (IATA code: G4) is an ultra-low-cost carrier with an unusual model: rather than compete on major trunk routes, it connects small and mid-sized US cities directly to leisure destinations that would otherwise require a connection.

Its focus destinations include Las Vegas, Orlando Sanford, Punta Gorda, St. Pete-Clearwater, Phoenix Mesa and Destin-Fort Walton Beach. Many Allegiant routes operate only two or three times per week, which is what makes the low fares possible.

The trade-off is frequency. If your Allegiant flight is disrupted, the next departure on that route may be days away rather than hours, and the airline has limited ability to rebook you on another carrier. Our agents will tell you plainly when a route’s schedule makes it a poor fit for a trip that cannot flex.

Allegiant Air Baggage Policy

Carry-On Baggage

  • One personal item is included with every fare — maximum 16 x 15 x 7 inches.
  • A full-size carry-on bag costs extra and must be purchased separately.
  • Buy bags at booking; airport and gate prices are considerably higher.

Checked Baggage

  • All checked bags are chargeable.
  • Maximum size per checked bag: 80 linear inches (length + width + height).
  • Maximum weight: 40 lb — lower than most carriers, with overweight fees above it.
  • Our agents quote the total including bags so you can compare Allegiant fairly.

24/7 Post-Booking Assistance

Travel can be unpredictable, but our travel experts are by your side around the clock. We help you adjust your Allegiant Air booking, cancel flights, add services, or update passenger details — and if you need to cancel, we walk you through the refund process with complete transparency, so you know exactly what to expect and when.

Allegiant Air — Frequently Asked Questions

  • Allegiant flies mostly nonstop from small cities to leisure destinations rather than competing on major routes. That often means a direct flight where every other carrier would route you through a hub — but with far fewer departures per week.

  • Many routes run only two to four times per week. Check the schedule carefully: if your flight is cancelled, the next one may not be for several days.

  • A seat and one personal item. Carry-on bags, checked bags, seat assignments and refreshments are all charged separately.

  • Allegiant’s low frequencies mean that a disruption is harder to recover from than on a major carrier, because there are fewer alternative flights and limited interline agreements. For time-critical travel we usually recommend a carrier with more daily departures on your route.

  • 40 lb per checked bag, below the 50 lb standard at most US airlines. Overweight fees apply above that.

  • That depends on how much schedule flexibility you have. Our agents price both and explain the trade-off before you decide.
